Marigold Yellow: 3 Fashionistas Tell You How to Wear this Season’s Favorite Color

March 26, 2019 | The Liva Lifestyle

Yellow has been a popular accent color known for its vibrancy. It’s often associated with happiness, positivity, and laughter. And, with the weather turning cheery as spring sets in, it is a wonderful time to sport this bright and happy color.

Moreover, with Marigold Yellow being declared as the color of Spring/Summer 2019, you have enough reasons to add this vibrant hue to your spring closet.

We asked three fashionistas how to make the most of the color trend this season. They talk about their love for yellow and share some great suggestions to brighten up your wardrobe with this vibrant hue.

Sukriti Grover

Meet Sukriti Grover, the lady behind the stylish ensembles adorned by many B-town celebrities, including Kriti Sanon, Bhumi Pednekar, Kartik Aryan, and Sushant Singh Rajput. According to her, warm colors are going to be very in this season, with yellow being a big player: “If somebody is in yellow, you just can’t miss it!” “We have started seeing the shade even in Indian designer wear,” she adds, referring to actor Alia Bhatt’s gorgeous yellow lehenga ensemble at a recent wedding.

Sukriti is also the co-founder of the fashion label Sukriti&Akriti and part of the consultancy StyleCell comprising lead designer Anaita Shroff Adajania and other celebrity stylists. When we asked her about marigold yellow—which she refers to as “the high-school yellow”—she explained how the color makes a big impact because it is strongly pigmented.

Styling tip: “If you’re wearing a strong color like that (marigold yellow), the focus should be only color, and nothing else. It doesn’t matter what silhouette you choose—keep the outfit minimal so that just the color talks,” suggests Sukriti.

“Another big trend now is tone-on-tone—team a piece of clothing with another one that is one shade lighter or darker, so you have everything from the same family or in the same tonal shade,” she advises. There are dozens of hues you can experiment with—from bright, saturated ones like aspen gold, marigold yellow, and lemon, to more subtle tones like mustard and mango.

Bhumika Thakkar

“Spring Summer is all about tropical and bright colors,” says Mumbai-based fashion and travel blogger Bhumika Thakkar. She recommends choosing clothing in yellow, mustard, pastels, and orange hues to match the season’s vibe.

Styling tip: “Mix and match, color block, or use just one bright element with a neutral shade if you want to keep it safe.” Bhumika does complete justice to the pop-colored pleated skirt by pairing it with a basic, sleeved blouse.

Richi Shah

“Yellow definitely adds a lot of brightness to your entire look. The color itself is so vibrant that it always stands out,” says fitness and fashion blogger Richi Shah, who is evidently a fan of the color. “Yellow makes me feel lit,” she adds in an excited tone, sharing that her newest online purchase for a blog shoot is coincidentally a yellow outfit.

Styling tip: “With summer around the corner, pairing a simple yellow top with denim or shorts, or even a (yellow) dress with a beige bag will complete your look.” Richi scores all points for pulling off a casual day-look in this solid-colored tee and denim shorts with metallic sneakers.

However, if you think an all-yellow look is too bold for you, combine it with a softer hue. Take a cue from Femina Miss India 2013 winner and actor Sobhita Dhulipala, who elegantly pulled off a marigold yellow blouse with a striped silk saree. Still reluctant? Opt for an accessory in this shade.
