The Style Evolution Of Jacqueline Fernandez
September 25, 2015 | Tinsel TrendsJacqueline Fernandez sure has made a lot of waves, and most of them because of her wardrobe choices. The best thing about the actress is how seamlessly she fits fashion and style according to her body, and not the other way around. With hear flawless sense of fashion, personal style and confidence, it won’t come as a surprise if she becomes the next poster girl of Bollywood.
Most recently, the Sri Lankan actress made a stunning entry at the product launch event of Hardwyn. The Brothers actress was more than happy to pose for the shutterbugs, but what caught everybody’s eye was the cute Barbie-ish red dress she’d worn, along with peach nails, minimal accessories and loose, carefree beach-waves.
The Vogue India’s (July 2015) cover star’s fashion decisions have always reflected her bubbly attitude, and she is one of those very rare Bollywood actresses who can switch between classic clothes to ethnic to experimental, and look stunning in all of them.
But this was not always the case. It took her quite some time to evolve into the fashionista that she is today. During her early years in the industry (around 2011 and 2012), Fernandez opted mostly for fitted jeans, sari hybrids and embellished dresses. Her most striking looks for those years included a black sequinned Amit GT gown and an ombré lace Gaurav Gupta sari.
Her true playful nature came to fore in 2013, where she started experimenting with drop crotch pants and brightly colored wedge sneakers during the day time, and slinky dresses during the night time. She also experimented with various labels like Nikhil Thampi, Shehla Khan and Sabyasachi Mukherjee. But her most memorable outfit of the year was a bold choice in the form of a Pernia Qureshi gown in shocking pink.
However, in 2014 and 2015, Jacqueline's style quotient only grew bigger and bolder, with numerous appearances in maxis, crop dresses, cape jackets and sequinned gowns. For the last year, her best looks included a gold and ivory ensemble by Anand Kabra and a crimson Amit Aggarwal gown. This year has a few more months left, but we’re sure nothing will top Fernandez’ IIFA Awards appearance in an Anamika Khanna lehenga.
In fact, the tinsel town actress has grown so confident that she’s been actively involved in designing her wardrobes for her current and existing movies. Remember her famous song Chittiyan Kalaiyan from the movie Roy? It created waves for the quirky outfits Fernandez wore, and now it’s been revealed that the actress herself was behind a few of those ensembles. The piece of metal highlighted in the image was designed by the actress herself, and she calls it a ‘Jegling’. In fact, Fernandez went so far as to wear clothes from her own wardrobe for some of the songs in the movie.
Now that’s a remarkable transformation! If you’re interested in reading about other style icons from Bollywood, here’s our article on Kangana Ranaut.
