The Floor Duster Coat – Your Must Have Winter Accessory!
October 14, 2015 | The Liva LifestyleVelvet is going to be one of the hottest trends this Autumn/Winter season and if you haven’t read about how to wear it, you should read about it now! Another trend which has caught the fancy of the world of fashion is the floor duster coat. But what exactly is this coat? Those who aren’t very tuned to the world of fashion won’t know what it is, but don’t worry, we’ll break things down for you.
The duster coat has a long and rich history. Originally, duster coats were full length (the type that are back in fashion now) and were very loose-fitting. They were almost always made of linen or canvas and were worn by horse riders to prevent their clothes from getting dirty with all the dirt and dust. Eventually, they were made from oil cloth and finally, from waxed cotton, to prevent clothes from getting wet during the rains. https://en.wikipedia.org/
By the early 20th century, women too had begun wearing duster coats to save their clothes from dust and rain. During the late 20th century, Hollywood’s Western movies popularized duster coats as the staple clothing for cowboys and people from the West. The coats got a chance at a second chance at fame when director Sergio Leone popularized duster coats in his movie The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly and since then, there has been no looking back.
So if you’re looking for something to wear this winter which will keep you warm and still make you look stylish, then how about opting for a floor duster coat? You have an added advantage – the floor duster coat trend hasn’t yet caught on in India, which means you can buy a coat of your choice and colour before the winter sets (and stocks deplete), and you will also leave your fashion-crazy friends wondering how you managed to pull of such a trendy look! There are many varieties available, especially when it comes to the fabric of the coats, including luxe crepe and silk.
Hollywood’s already going gaga over this trend and one celeb who’s adopted this trend whole heartedly is Kylie Jenner. Look at her power blue floor duster coat – doesn’t it perfectly complement her white twosie, fedora hat and gladiator sandals? It’s the perfect look for the months before winter – the ones that are too hot for sweaters but too cold for short clothes
Here’s another look of the young Miss Jenner. So while on one hand she used her floor duster coat to go boho-chic, on the other hand you can see how effortlessly she played down her appearance by going completely casual. Chelsea boots, black jeans and a slogan tee; she sure gave off a very “I don’t give a damn” vibe!
So what about you? When will you be investing in this sizzling Autumn/Winter 2015 trend?
