Sunny Must Haves This Season
March 30, 2015 | The Liva Lifestyle
Summer is here, which means that along with switching to a sunscreen with increased SPF, it's also time for a wardrobe rehaul. Time to store away the woollens and lock away those sweatshirts and other quintessential garments that spell winter and make way for some radiance. Here are some style must haves that will instantly get you into the summer mood.
Crop Tops: The only grouse we have with crop tops is why they took so long to make a comeback? They're high on the style quotient, make you look super cool and not to forget, allow some much needed ventilation on balmy summer afternoons. Pair them with palazzos or maxi skirts for a casual chic effect.
Patterned Wedges: If being comfortable is of prime importance to you, you can easily rely on wedges to make you look tall and yet take you places without hurting your feet. The key, however is in lending your wedges a summer appropriate touch. It's quite easy, actually. Just go for pairs in bright colours and vibrant patterns and prints and you'll have the world at your feet in no time.
Maxi Dresses: Seriously, bid goodbye to uncomfortably body hugging denim pants and say hello to the season’s favourite - maxi dresses. What we like the best about maxi dresses is that we don't have to wonder what to pair it with, like we have to do with jeans and skirts. Just slip the maxi on and we're good to go.
Flower prints: Any self-respecting fashionista's spring/summer wardrobe would be deemed incomplete without a healthy dose of flower power. Honestly, florals help you get into a chirpy mood too... a much required feeling on days when the sun threatens to outshine you. You can sneak in florals into your wardrobe in more ways than one... think floral bags, necklaces, pants, tops or even shades and shoes. Endless possibilities, indeed!
Funky shades: You have to protect your eyes from the harsh sun. That's a given. But no one said you can't have some fun with shades while at it, did they now? Over-sized shades, Lennon shades, double circle round sunglasses, vintage polarized sunglasses, wayfarers with prints on the frame... Sport variety of looks with each pair.
Colours: We get it. You love neutral colours and generally turn to blue, grey, black and white to save the day for you. But in the defense of all things fashionable... it's spring/summer! It's the best time to bring out outfits in neons and pastels and minty fresh shades to match the mood. But if that sounds like a tad bit much, go for pops of colour in the form of brightly coloured accessories or white shirts with colourful borders and the like.
Prints: Aztec prints have successfully gripped the imagination of every fashionista worth her salt, but there are a few more prints that will do justice to your summer wardrobe. Dresses and even tights in geometric prints, shirts in tropical prints and silhouettes in unusual animal prints, stripes, Gingham prints and pop culture patterns are the order of the day.
Now that you know what a summer wardrobe should consist of, go ahead and enjoy the bloom.
