Nargis Fakhri Sizzles As Suneet Varma’s Showstopper
May 14, 2015 | Tinsel TrendsThe 15th Lakme Fashion Week was a star studded function with various Bollywood celebrities making their presence felt at the event. But more than them, it was the showstoppers that became the talk of the town. And one of the most talked about showstoppers for the event was actress Nargis Fakhri.
Adding glamour and glitz to Suneet Varma’s collection, the actress managed to outshine almost all other stars at the fashion show. Titled ‘Decorative Arts of India’, the collection was Varma’s tribute to the colours, crafts and traditional motifs of Southwest Indian. A variety of fabrics and plethora of colours were used to achieve a look that was modern, yet traditional, and it came out best in his lehenga cholis. Fakhri brought oomph back on stage by wearing a crystal encrusted red lehenga choli outfit with delicate gold work, which was accompanied with an accessorized side plait.
After her colourful-candy girl look for designer Masaba, her transformation into a stunning desi goddess captivated a lot of on-lookers. The crowd was left in awe. Her dress was accessorized with bridal jewellery provided by Reliance Jewels, including antique diamond necklaces, regal maang tikas, elegant kamarbandhs, dangler earrings, royal kundan jewellery, stunning chandbaalis, and gorgeous kangans. They were comprised mostly of gold and diamond, and together, her entire ensemble brought about a very romantic relationship between bridal jewellery and couture.
So while Varma’s collection had a lot of kundan pieces in it, Reliance Jewels too displayed their varied collection of jewellery which could be worn on both casual and formal occasions. The CEO of Reliance Jewels, Sunil Nayak, said that every piece that his company had on display on the models during their ramp walks was “an exquisite blend of traditional mystique and contemporary glamour”. He indicated that every piece bought off them is a timeless classic and a must have for the modern woman of today. The Reliance jewellery collection can easily be bought across all 53 Reliance Jewels showrooms across the country.
After the show ended, Fakhri commented about Varma, “He is one of the best designers of the Indian fashion industry and wearing his clothes has just made me feel like a queen.” Fakhri is no stranger to causing a flurry on the runway. At last year’s Lakme Fashion Week, she caused a flurry with designer Shehlaa’s sheer off shoulder dress, and turned a lot of heads at the 2013 Lakme Fashion Week when she looked like a glamorous diva wearing a Ritu Kumar ensemble.
Other show stoppers which caused quite a stir included a demure looking Karisma Kapoor in a Neha Agarwal design, a sexy Esha Gupta who wore an Arpita Mehta thigh high slit gown, Tamanna Bhatia in a nude ensemble of Payal Singh’s which comprised of intricate mosaic work and delicate patterns and Shraddha Kapoor who looked like quite the dominatrix in her Dhruv Kapoor cigarette pants and a black bustier top.
