Marsala - Chic And Romantic

January 18, 2016 | The Liva Lifestyle

Not a lot of people knew about Marsala before Pantone declared it the colour of the month. But since after the announcement, it looks like Hollywood has gone overboard to compensate for their ignoring the colour for so long. Needless to say, Hollywood’s A-list celebrities and designers have showcased their wine-dyed gowns proudly at several international occasions, and here’s a roundup of the 4 most gorgeous marsala colour dresses that we laid our eyes on -

Kylie Jenner

CA: 2014 American Music Awards - Arrivals

Miss Jenner was spotted at American Music Awards. Her famous emerald green locks had a little ombre in them and she looked ravishing in a sheer Alexander Vauthier dress. The dress had a plunging neckline and hip-high slit, giving the young starlet to flash as much skin as she can. Her accessories included an Ileana Makri ‘Centaurus’ ring, black mesh pumps, along with Marsala lips & nails.

Karlie Kloss

Kloss brought about a very unique spin with her Marsala see-through lace dress. It was a bold statement to make, especially considering the fact that she was wearing a turquiose bodice beneath it. Needless to say, it had fashion critics on polar opposite ends of their critiques – they either loved the dress or hated it. There was no in between.

mogen Poots

Poots was a picture of elegance at the EE British Academy Awards (London) where she wore a Givenchy gown by designer Riccardo Tisci. Her glamorous cut-out Marsala gown’s appearance was highlighted by the bold geometric cuts, especially the ones around her mid riff. She complimented her overall look by keeping her hair and makeup minimal; her hair was pulled back in a casual updo, she sported no accessories and had her nails painted jet black.

Katie Holmes

The actress was spotted in a form-fitting deep Marsala dress made up of satin. The off-shoulders and the cute bow on the front along with the unusual length of the dress made it instantly recognisable as designer Zac Posen’s work. Her hair was messy – in stark contrast to her chic and classic dress, and she topped off her look with nude lips and Marsala classic stilettos. It was the material of the cloth (satin) which is what caught our eye in the first place. Not a lot of celebrities dare to wear such a fabric in public, but when has Holmes shied away from experimenting? It is to be noted that at the function, the actress received a lot of attention for the gown she wore.

So, these are 4 Hollywood ladies that simply rocked in Marsala outfits. We made sure we included 4 different types of dresses to show you how versatile this colour is. You can pair it with white, black or even Marsala footwear (depending on the colour of your accessories, mostly). And if you’re wondering which shade of lipstick to wear with these dresses, then check this article out!
