Let’s Crop It Up

June 01, 2015 | The Liva Lifestyle

There is no doubt that this summer has been one of the hottest EVER. Also, there has been no doubt that the S/S 2015 trends have battled the soaring temperature with oomph and style. This year, the trends brought back some decade old favorites and kept a couple from last year. One of the most summer friendly trends to feature this year as well has been the crop top trend. If you thought of keeping them in storage to make room for newer trends in your closet, then think again. But here we will tell you the trendy ones and how to wear them-

With jackets- Believe it or not, crop tops don’t always feature in the casual category. To make them more chic and formal, pair the bra-let or a crop top with a matching jacket. Diane Von Furstenberg did just that during her fashion show and it was the way a crop top has never been seen before

High waisted skirts- High waisted bottoms and midi length are not going anywhere anytime soon. Matching crop tops with high waisted skirts looked perfect for the afternoon tea you are going to attend next weekend. With little of the tummy showing, this trend can be worn even by the conscious ladies.

Denim- Denim made its place in 2015 and did not leave a single clothing trend out. It has taken over the crop top trend too with its shirt version. A short sleeved shirt to be worn with well fitted pair of dark jeans or trousers, this crop top takes casual chic to another level. Be it embellished with a cluster of stars or plain, a denim crop top is the way to make a statement.

Knotted- Remember the knotted shirts 10 years ago, which were spotted everywhere especially if you were the daring one to show off half an inch of your tummy? Well, the much shorter version is here. Extremely summery in its look, the knotted crop top pairs very well with light coloured pants or linen trousers. Extremely comfortable to the skin (since you can adjust the tightness), the knotted one is the season’s current favourite.

Lace- Lace, along with denim, is here to stay and we are not complaining because you cannot go wrong with lace in summer. Lace in light colours is seen in abundance nearly everywhere and it is no surprise that the crop top versions make you think of sunny skies in forget-me-not blues. Pair these loose sleeved tops with high waisted light denim shorts or pants. They are not fitting but are lose to the body which flow with every movement.

Layered- Layering has always been an essential part of dressing up as it helps to add colour, different fabric and change the overall look and feel to the outfit. Spring/ summer 2015 fashion shows showcased just that. Bra-lets and crop tops were layered with contrasting coloured tops underneath. Sheer shirts were a popular choice and were paired with trousers. Else wear a dungaree on top of a crop top.

Crop top is here to stay at least for this one year. So hit the gym and take care of your diet to show off that mid riff. If you’re conscious about you tummy peeking, then you can simply wear slightly longer crop top with high waisted bottoms to show lesser skin whilst sticking to the trend you love so much.
