4 Types Of Shoes You Should Wear Before And During The Winters
September 23, 2015 | The Liva LifestyleThe winters will soon be upon us, but how many of us are really prepared, speaking strictly in terms of fashion, for this season? What kind of shoes should one wear in such weather? Well, keeping in mind what the fall/winter 2015-2016 fashion weeks at New York, Paris, London and Milan showcased us, you should begin by putting aside all your summer shoes!
It’s time to wear shoes which are best suited for the weather, and here are our pick of the top 4 types of shoes you should wear during the rainy season
Colored Boots
The first thing that comes to mind when one thinks of boots are boring colors (like black and brown) which are terrible to look at, even though they are comfortable to wear. But fashion has come a long way, and today, it’s essential to have a pair of boots in your wardrobe. The best part is that they’re available in all types of materials, in fun colors, prints, embellishments and even with belts and buckles. Basically, if you can think of it, then that option’s available.
Not only can you keep your feet warm and comfortable, you can now look stylish while doing so. Boots also make for awesome monsoon footwear and you can read more about monsoon styles HERE!
Peep-Toe Shoes and Sandals
Now before the winters set in, India experiences fluctuating weathers – so while one day its cold and windy, on other days it’ll be hot and humid. And it is during those days when you can get away with an open toe or a sling-back design. During winters, you can wear stockings (or if you’re adventurous, colorful socks) with these shoes.
Designers Rodarte, Francesco Scognamiglio and Giambattista Valli experimented with open toes during their respective fashion weeks, while Proenza Schouler offered a unique variation to peep-toe styles. The heel length can be experimented with – smaller heels work better for formal and semi-formal events while high heels are best left for casual affairs or black tie events.
Ankle Booties
For some weird reason, these booties aren’t popular in India, even though they’re exceptionally trendy and provide instant glam to one’s look. They’re too uncomfortable for summers, but for winters? They’re the perfect footwear. And they are available in a plethora of styles – some have high heels, some have block heels, while others are completely flat! They are available in a wide variety of colors, but if you want something strictly for the monsoon season, then stick to browns, reds or blacks. Avoid nude – they look best on pumps with high heels.
Graphic Shoes
Shoes with wild graphic designs on them dominated all global fashion weeks, be it the MSGM zigzags on heels, the shape of patching or marbles or Fendi ankle booties with the graphic pattern right in the middle of the booties. Vivienne Westwood’s shoes were also replete with graphics, and a lot of them were inspired by graffiti. In fact, there were words inscribed on those booties!
Of course, the average Indian woman does not have to invest in booties that fancy. The point is that you shouldn’t be afraid to experiment. Opt for block colors, bold designs, animal prints or even your favorite comic book strips – if you want to experiment, then now is the perfect time to do so!
